The Charcoal Group of Restaurants is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic addition to our accounting team.

The General Accountant is an integral position within Charcoal Group. Our leaders rely on this position to maintain accurate and up to date accounting records, enabling all levels of the organization to manage their business, understand expenses and maintain accurate reporting. We currently have 14 operating restaurants and 2 under construction with plans for continued growth.

Within our Accounting Team, the General Accountant is a key, fast paced position that will take your accounting skills to the next level from the many experiences you will encounter. Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Bank reconciliations of multiple bank accounts
  • Credit card reconciliation for multiple cards
  • Reconciliation of clearing accounts relating to cash floats and various payment methods
  • Upload and verification of sales information from multiple restaurants
  • Petty cash purchase reconciliations
  • Perform an analysis of cost of goods sold highlighting any variances and providing an explanation
  • Reconciling credit and debit card fees each month
  • Preparation of period end and year end reconciliations
  • Financial statement analysis compared to historical and budgeted performance
  • Work closely with the Assistant Controller, as well as staff in all levels of the organization, to research and resolve issues and questions that arise for the multiple entities
  • You may work on other projects/tasks as assigned with the Assistant Controller or other team members
  • You will constantly be on the lookout for improving processes in the department to maintain efficiencies

 

To be successful in this role:

  • You should have some accounting experience, whether that be work experience, educational experience, or both. Experience in a high volume, multiple entity company would be a great asset
  • You must have excellent problem-solving skills and an uncanny ability to handle a strong workload
  • You are driven by deadlines and are highly detail oriented
  • Being hyper organized is engrained in who you are
  • You also know and love to prove to people that speed and accuracy can coexist
  • You are comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization
  • You enjoy working as part of a team while still very comfortable taking an idea and running with it independently
  • You embrace change because you know that any process can always be improved upon.
  • You view Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word as important tools in your toolbox and consider yourself somewhat of an expert in these programs
